NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING (NYLT) - April 27 - 29, 2018

YOUTH PROTECTION - YOUTH PROTECTION - YOUTH PROTECTION - A MUST FOR ALL ADULTS!

Certain Online Trainings EXPIRE after 2 years have passed. They include YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING,
WEATHER HAZARDS TRAINING, SAFE SWIM DEFENSE and SAFETY AFLOAT.

Troop Tour Plans will not be approved if you list adults who are not Youth Protection Trained. At least one (1)
Adult must have Weather Hazard Training and, if a water activity is included, the Safe Swim Defense & Safety Afloat.


HIGH ADVENTURE COURSES FOR ADULT SCOUT LEADERS -
These courses include:

FIRST AID and SAFETY - May 15, 2018 and June 12, 2018
CPR CERTIFICATION (Required for all National High Adventure Bases) - May 8, 2018 and June 5, 2018
          These courses are offered at the St. Andrews Lutheran Church (details below).
          $45.00 for both courses' certifications.   $35.00 fee to take either course.

BASIC BACKPACKING - Tuesdays, March 6, 20 & 27, 2018
          This course covers the introduction to high adventure, equipment, suggested places to go, land navigation skills, special food, cooking skills and an introduction to caving. There is a $10.00 registration fee when you register online.

WINTER BACKPACKING - Tuesdays, December 4 & 11, 2018
          This course adds information about the special needs of cold weather camping and other sports. There is a $10.00 registration fee due when you register online.


CANOEING & CANOE TRIPPING - June 8 & 9, 2018
          This includes leadership and practical skills for adults, where and when to go, and whether you should rent or own. There is a $10.00 registration fee due when you register online.

KAYAKING & WHITEWATER - June 15 & 16, 2018
          This includes leadership and practical skills for adults, where and when to go, and whether you should rent or own. There is a $10.00 registration fee due when you register online.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID (Required for ALL BSA High Adventure Bases) - March 17 & 18, 2018
          There is a $65.00 registration fee due when you register online.
           If you are a previously certified WFA participant, you can get attend a refresher course to be determined.


These High Adventure training opportunities are a LOT of fun. The different courses have different fees associated with them.

All High Adventure training during the 2017 -18 year will be held in the St. Andrews Lutheran Church Nursery School, 30 Brooksite Ave.(CR 87), Smithtown.
** EXCEPT FOR Canoe, Canoe Tripping, Kayaking and the Wilderness First Aid Course which will be done at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp.
